The sudden demise of acclaimed Bengali filmmaker Anik Dutta has triggered an outpouring of grief across the Tollywood film industry. Soon after the tragic news broke, several actors, filmmakers, and public figures took to social media to pay heartfelt tributes to the celebrated director, remembering his immense contribution to Bengali cinema.
Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee offered his homage on Instagram, while actress Mimi Chakraborty expressed shock over the filmmaker’s sudden passing. “This is so sudden and shocking, Anik Da. May your soul rest in peace. Praying for your entire family at this hard time,” she wrote.
Actor Jeet also shared an emotional message on X, calling Dutta “a fantastic filmmaker, a creative soul, and a storyteller who left his own distinct mark through cinema.”
Political leaders also reacted to the tragedy. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari paid tribute to the filmmaker and described his contribution to Bengali cinema as “priceless.” In his post on X, he also urged Kolkata Police to thoroughly investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding Dutta’s death.
